Heinz Pitsch is a Professor at RWTH Aachen University and the director of the Institute for Combustion Technology. He has been Assistant and Associate Professor at Stanford University from 2003 – 2013 after receiving his PhD from RWTH Aachen University in 1998 and holding post-doctoral positions at the University of California, San Diego, and Stanford University.
He has received two ERC Advanced Grants, one in 2015 and another one in 2022. He is currently the chair of the German Section of the Combustion Institute, and he is a fellow of the Combustion Institute and the American Physical Society. The expertise of Prof. Pitsch is in the field of combustion chemistry and turbulent combustion, new energy carriers, and pollutant formation. He has actively participated in several training programs (e.g. Center for Turbulence Research Summer School at Stanford University, Princeton-CEFRC Summer School On Combustion, and Princeton-Tsinghua Summer School on Combustion).
