A few weeks ago, seven of our Doctoral Candidates participated in the 12th European Combustion Meeting (ECM 2025) held in Edinburgh (Scotland).
The ECM is a key event in the combustion science community, offering a platform for researchers and engineers to share their latest findings and ideas.
Our Doctoral Candidates presented their work through posters, attended lectures, and engaged with researchers from across Europe and beyond. It was a valuable opportunity to showcase their research, receive feedback, and build new collaborations.
Highlights from Our Candidates
- Ebrahim Rahmani – «Combustion and emission characteristics of NH3/H2 under MILD regime in a semi-industrial furnace»
- Lorenzo Piu – «Bayesian neural networks for Arrhenius-based turbulent combustion closures in large-eddy simulations»
- Chiara Novelli – «Development of a Local Reduced-Order Model Framework for Combustion Systems Using Soft Clustering»
- Giovanni Grassi – «NH3/H2 reduced chemistry for numerical combustion»
- Francesco Cenvinzo – «Hybrid Navier-Stokes/ANN solver for unsteady simulation of H2 flame»
- Vicente Castro – «OH* chemiluminescence under MILD conditions in a cyclonic unit with a methane/air mixture»
- Vincenzo Rosati – «Sparse Sensor Placement for a Cyclonic Burner under MILD Combustion Conditions»

Participating in events like ECM 2025 not only advances their own doctoral journeys but also strengthens the visibility and impact of our research group in the wider combustion community.
