Lorenzo Frascino

Lorenzo Frascino, an Aerospace Engineer from the University of Naples Federico II, takes on a pivotal role in the ENCODING project. His tasks include:

  1. Conducting Direct Numerical Simulations (DNS) and Large-Eddy Simulations (LES) of turbulent combustion systems, progressively increasing in complexity.
  2. Investigating combustion of hydrogen blends with methane and ammonia across various configurations relevant to industrial furnaces and gas turbines, including diluted and pre-heated combustion regimes.
  3. Utilizing DNS to simulate canonical configurations with detailed chemical kinetics descriptions, extracting key combustion characteristics for the development of physics-informed Machine Learning (ML) approaches and combustion closures for LES.
  4. Validating hybrid LES models from Lorenzo Piu using DNS results in both a-priori and a-posteriori.
  5. Performing LES and validating results with experimental data from Aurora Maffei to ensure accuracy and reliability in modelling turbulent combustion systems.
