Lorenzo Piu

Lorenzo Piu is an Aerospace Engineer from Politecnico di Torino. His role within ENCODING entails:

  1. Development of an adaptive simulation framework, finely adjusting chemical mechanism complexity and turbulent combustion closure to suit local flow conditions.
  2. Exploration of innovative strategies integrating dimensionality reduction methods (such as rate-based approaches and dynamic system analysis) with optimization techniques like genetic algorithms, aimed at maximizing dimensionality reduction potential.
  3. Creation of multi-objective classifiers to fine-tune models to the desired fidelity level.
  4. Validation of turbulent combustion closure development using DNS data and validation against DNS data and experimental measurements.
  5. Execution of RANS and LES simulations through a design of experiments approach, integrating simulations of varying fidelity to contribute to the development of simulation-based digital twins alongside Chiara Novelli.
